People, the day is nigh! Ahead of tomorrow's Oscar nomination announcement, here are my top five movies of 2006:

• The Departed
• Dreamgirls
• Little Children
• Little Miss Sunshine
• The Queen

My favorite movies that won't get the attention they deserve:

• Stranger than Fiction
• Children of Men
• United 93
• Borat
• The Illusionist

So I guess that's my top ten of the year. My predictions for the Oscar winners are:

• BEST PICTURE: Little Miss Sunshine
• BEST DIRECTOR: Marty Scorsese for The Departed
• BEST ACTRESS: Helen Mirren for The Queen
• BEST ACTOR: I can't say Forrest Whitaker because I didn't see The Last King of Scotland, so let's go with Leonardo DiCaprio for The Departed
• BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Jennifer Hudson for Dreamgirls
• BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Jackie Earle Haley for Little Children
• BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: Michael Arndt for Little Miss Sunshine
• BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: Todd Field & Tom Perrotta for Little Children
• BEST ORIGINAL SONG: "The Book I Write" by Spoon for Stranger than Fiction
• BEST MOVIE BLOG: Hollywood Elsewhere
